You know there are moments as a parent when you are keenly aware of the fact that karma exists and you obviously did something REALLY horrible to deserve that moment. Then suddenly you have a flashback of your mom saying through clenched teeth, “I hope you have three kids just like yourself someday and I am going to love it.” Well my son is just like me and my mom LOVES it. I could not keep still as a child. The bug well, he is constantly in motion. No really I mean it. Make it stop please.

So when I was in the lovely old world apothecary this past weekend I saw the words: Aromatherapy Bath for Nonstop Children,I had to get it. Actually, I had to resist the urge to drop to my knees and say, “YES THANK YOU.” It has Sweet Almond oil, wheatgerm, Valerian root and essential oils. It is not tested on animals and doesn’t use synthetic fragrance. The bug has very sensitive skin so I was leery of the essential oils but it didn’t bother him at all. It smells great too, all citrusy. So did it work you ask? Well yes, sure he was calm and agreeable…until he got out of the bath. The effects seem to only last as long as he is actually in the bath. However, I used it tonight and I feel like it helped me. Could have been just having a nice bath in general or after the day I had any quiet, alone time would have relaxed me but whatever. It did leave my skin super soft and smelling yummy. I might be using this a lot since we have officially hit the terrible twos aweek early. I never want to utter the words, “We don’t eat our poop or wipe it on mommy” again. I think I need another bath.

All is Well

Thankfully we all made it through the tornado followed by hail, lightening and thunder storm last night. The bug, true to form, slept straight through it only to wake up at 5am wondering why we were so tired. The hubs and I went from laughing, “haha maybe we should move away from the window” to “oh crap seriously let’s take cover.” Anyhoo let’s talk mascara.

We will be going to a wedding next month and I need to look nice, you know actually put something other than flip-flops on and wear some makeup. I am really wanting to do a light old-fashioned cat eye thing withmy eye makeup but I need to learn how of course and then actually get some eye makeup. I’m leaning towards this and this to achieve it. I suppose I will need one of those fancy angled brushes to apply the eyeliner. Ecotoolshas one that I would like to try. I would rather not spend gads of money on a few items that, let’s face it I won’t be using on a regular basis. However I am kinda looking forward to the opportunity to get dressed up so I figure I should go all out. Any tips on makeup application for the challenged? What’s your go-to routine for creating a dramatic eye makeup experience? Please dumb it down for me.

Hey I’m currently huddled in a hallway waiting out a tornado. Of course I grabbed my laptop…priorities. We’ll discuss mascara tomorrow. Talk amongst yourselves.

Can You Smell the Love?

As a wonderful send off to ourblog of the month, The Scented Life, some Beauty and Stylers have chimed in with their top 5 fragrance picks. Don’t worry she’s not going anywhere so please continue to check out what Amy has going on. Fragrance is like hair color to some women, you need to change it up once in a while and start fresh. Why don’t you leave her a comment and tell her what your top 5 faves are. I will have to think on that one but it’s hot, the bug is asleep and my brain is officially off duty. Glub, glub.

Paper or Plastic? How about Neither
By: Pretty by Nature    4 days 22 hours 2 minutes ago

It’s no secret that plastic bags are not good for the environment. Here’s the thing, paper isn’t that great either. The great reusable bag push has been on for a while now with many places having banned the use of plastic altogether. None of this is news I know but follow me a bit. You get plastic bags in other places besides the grocery store, right? If a store doesn’t carry plastic then they probably have paper; even recycled paper maybe. If they are really top notch they might hand you a reusable bag with their business logo on it. My beef is this however: How about no bag at all? What if I just carry those three little items out of the store. Slip them into my purse. Or why can’t you put my socks from Target in the bag I sometimes use for groceries? Why do I need a bag for every.single.item I buy?

I can’t tell you the amount of times within thepast few weeks that I have been given a weird look or had a clerk make a remark to me over my refusal of a bag. One woman last week looked at me as if I had asked her to smear poop all over her body when I told her to just drop the item in acloth bag I had in my purse. Or how about when I went to the crunchy kids boutique. She offered me a bag and I said no thanks. Her response was, “But it’s recycled paper. We just got them.” She was truly baffled when I declined a second time. I’m sorry in my head I said I can carry it, thank you, but maybe it came out as, “hey I kick puppies for fun.” I’m ranting obviously and I’m not sure I have a point other than enough with the bags. Unnecessary bags of all kinds. If you use cloth bags at the grocery store then just use them everywhere. Plase don’t say to me, “well that’s different” with a tone of disgust when I say I don’t need a bag for ONE STINKIN PAIR OF PANTS. Phew. I drove here in my planet killer to buy a pair of fat pants made by 5 year olds in a sweat shop using cotton laced with napalm and panda tears. Let me save one bag at least.*ROAR*
