By: Unplugged Living    0 days 3 hours 16 minutes ago

Since Louis Palmer had started his journey around the world riding in a car that run using the power of the sun, we all have been hearing bits and pieces of news of how things are going for him and just how far along has he gone. Now, it is very inspiring to think that this Swiss adventurer has already completed his trip. Yes. Louis Palmer has completed the journey around the world in his solar car.

The tour ended for Palmer and on the last leg of his trip, he had stopped at a talk that the United Nations was having. This talk was about the climate and how technologies that were clean were helping the world battle global warming. Of course, this solar car was a really good example of clean technology. This happened in Poznan in Poland.

Palmer had traveled for 32,000 miles. He started in Switzerland and journeyed for 17 months.

Packing Fruits With Solar Power

For the Mariani Packing Co., they would be better off working all their duties with the use of power that comes straight from the sun. This is what Mark Mariani shared just recently. Mariani is the head and CEO of the fruit packing company which is located in Vacaville. He even says, What better resource can you use but the sun that dries our fruit? And so what the Mariani Packing Co. did was put in over 5800 solar panels. These are all found right next t the companys plant. You would think that they have been also planted there like the trees in the farm. According to the company, the whole set of panels would be helping them with 1.1 megawatts of power in one year. Now that is a lot of power, right?

Says Mariani, It speaks to commitment across the board to reduce carbon dioxide and global warming. It sends a message to my whole company that this is the way we will be doing things in the future.

A Brooklyn Solar Story
By: Unplugged Living    1 days 16 hours 35 minutes ago
Channel: Eco Style Living Healthy Planet Wellness

A story from a resident of Windsor Terrace about solar power was pretty funny, if you ask me. Back when he had first installed solar panels on his homes roof, he was already starting to save money. Now when an employee of the electricity company checked on the meter, he saw that it did move - but it had moved backwards. Of course, the employee was dumbstruck and told the owner that things do not work that way. What he did not know was that he was using power but not from the grid. This is the true story of Peter Landy. He said, We havent had a bill. Just the connection fee, which is around $11. We produce more [electricity] than we use, so the meter goes backwards.

Now for the electricity company employee, that was something new to him because he sure did not see much meters going backwards.

Solar Charger Makes Its Way To Philippines
By: Unplugged Living    3 days 3 hours 4 minutes ago

The Philippines is a pretty sunny country - the sun shines for the most part of the year. And it would be really good to have solar chargers making their way to this country. Not only would such help the environment but it would also help the people of the country save much on energy bills.

One of the newest solar chargers that have made its way to this Asian country is the GreenMobile Solar Chargers and this one has been created by Tritec Integrated Philippines Inc. It comes with lithium batteries and has been given solar cells. Any gadget that needs charging could be easily given juice by just connecting it to the charger via a USB cable.

Tristan San Buenaventura is the head of Tritec and on this, he shared, Our solar chargers dramatically reduce energy cost of gadget users because they dont have to spend any or just need to spend less because it does not directly consume current.
